I was first introduced to the area when I was in college at UVA in the early 90's; albeit we had family in Maryland whom we saw a decent amount when I was young. In 2004 I graduate Columbia Business School and decided to leave NYC. Arlington just made sense - I wanted a good job, a fun place to live, and a place to plant and expand my roots. By 2006 Teresa and I were married and now have 3 kids, Lila, and twins, Lincoln and Stella. The twins are at Dorothy Hamm and my oldest is at Yorktown.
I haven't run for elected office before, but I look forward to adding an element of the everyday local dad with multiple kids and a working wife to the equation. I guess in some ways I’ve been interested in it since I young. I grew up in South Florida when it was bluer than blue. In those days, in between tennis and soccer, and being captain of my debate team, I was also a community organizer and worked on several Democratic campaigns, including Bob Graham (Sen – D – FL).
I currently work for a Global 2000 cyber security firm helping to increase our customers’ success, return on investment, and impact on key priorities. Our job is to keep them safe. Prior to that, I have spent about 30 years working in technology, consulting, and private equity/venture capital space. Early on I managed rock and roll bands.
Well, impact is something you consistently strive for. You want to make a dent in the universe. Teresa and I have been active in and continue to support many organizations including the Hillel at George Mason, The Arlington Free Clinic, Cystic Fibrosis, and Donaldson Run. Plus, lots of work has been put in at the kids’ various schools over the years, Teresa should get the props there for sure!
