Why I'm Running
Hi, I’m Nicolaus Sleister a proud Democrat, and I’m running for Congress in Virginia’s 2nd District because I believe we’re Stronger As One. As a military spouse, I’ve chosen to make this diverse district my family’s home, and I see every day how our differences make us stronger. I’m running to protect our freedoms, stand by veterans and service members, and ensure government works for everyone, not just the wealthy or party insiders.
My Background
My background in physical security and Homeland Security taught me the importance of resilience and community. Yet many families here are weighed down by rising costs, inaccessible healthcare, and the lack of stable, good-paying jobs. Rep. Jen Kiggans has failed to defend our rights and deliver the investments we need. I promise to fight for affordable healthcare, better support for veterans, and stronger public schools, because our district deserves honest leadership that puts people first. Invest in renewable energy and infrastructure. Support small businesses with capital and simplified regulations. Create workforce development programs and apprenticeships. Expand broadband in rural communities.
Comprehensive support for service members, spouses, and veterans
Affordable housing near bases. Fix VA delays and improve accountability. Expand spouse employment protections and education benefits. Strengthen mental health support and suicide prevention programs.
