Darius Mayfield is a self-made entrepreneur who rose from poverty to embody the American Dream. Darius is running for Congress in Virginia’s 7th District because he wants to make Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family, not another New Jersey. Darius is running to keep the American Dream alive and well, to ensure all Americans continue to have the opportunities he had. Darius will put a check on Washington, ensuring a government for and by the people of Virginia’s 7th District.
Background & Early Years
Darius Mayfield was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he was raised by a single mother in Section 8 housing after his father left when he was three years old. Although very gifted, Darius struggled in school without a father figure in his life, culminating in being arrested and jailed for 60 days as a teenager for stealing. That moment became a turning point in Darius’ life. As soon as he was released, Darius found mentors and set about getting his life on track. With encouragement and guidance from his mentor, Neil – a business owner and father-like figure and drawing back on the lessons taught by his uncle – a pastor, Darius worked his way up the ladder at a local car dealership.

As a successful salesman and turn-around specialist who helped numerous local businesses succeed, Darius is a job creator who believes in American ingenuity and the value of hard work. Darius opposes DEI initiatives that discriminate against merit and will always support a favorable regulatory environment that supports local business growth - including Right To Work and repatriation of American jobs.

Darius knows that America is free because of our veterans’ sacrifices and that Virginia’s nation-leading veteran population is the backbone of our great state. Darius is committed to improving care for veterans, by fighting for increased VA funding, streamlined healthcare access, and expanded job programs, ensuring veterans receive the respect and support they deserve.
Supporting Our Military
Darius has the utmost respect for our men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line every day for our freedom. When it comes to foreign policy, Darius believes in peace through strength. He supports investing Americans’ tax dollars in our local communities and focusing foreign defense spending and involvement around protecting key American interests and fostering prosperity at home.
Securing Our Border
Having seen firsthand the chaos of an unsecured border during congressional visits, Darius was appalled at the deliberate choices during the Biden administration that left our southern border wide open. Darius supports strong border security, including completion of the wall and enforcing immigration laws to protect communities and prioritize the wellbeing and safety of American citizens and honor immigrants who abide by our nation’s laws.
